Noting that the number of dengue cases is on the rise across the country, Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader on Monday urged the city corporations and municipalities to strengthen cleanliness and anti-mosquito drives.

The minister came up with the call while talking at a video conference at the inaugural ceremony of a bungalow named “Padma” beside the Dhaka-Mawa expressway.

The bungalow was constructed at a cost of Tk7.7 crore in Munshiganj.

Replying to a comment of  BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul that the government has been in power without people’s mandate, the Awami League general secretary said: “Reviewing the recent elections it has been seen that the people of the country have rejected BNP in most cases as it has failed to forge any movement or win any election.”

Secretary to the Road Transport and Bridges Ministry Nazrul Islam, Chief Engineer of Roads and Highways Department Shahrier Hossain, Additional Chief Engineer of Dhaka Roads zone Sabuj Uddin Khan and officials concerned of Department of Roads, Munshiganj, also took part in the event.
