The move aims to expedite the process of providing assistances to migrant workers
The government has formed a five-member committee to formulate an integrated database of migrant workers returning from abroad aiming at providing various government assistances to them.
The committee was formed on Thursday at an inter-ministerial meeting held online with Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Imran Ahmad in the chair, says a media statement.
Headed by the additional secretary (security and immigration wing) of the Security Services Division, the committee has been formed comprising the Home Affairs Ministry, the Foreign Affairs Ministry, the Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment, Civil Aviation Authority and Immigration and Passport Department.
The committee will ensure the information management in the system of immigration department within a quickest possible time after collecting the information of the returnee migrant workers at the immigration counter.
Secretary of the Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Ministry Dr Ahmed Munirus Saleheen moderated the meeting while Cabinet Division Secretary (Coordination and Reforms) Md Kamal Hossain, Additional Secretary of the Foreign Affairs Ministry Md Khalilur Rahman, Additional Secretary (Security and Immigration Wing) of the Security Services Division Mohammed Azharul Huq, Director General of Immigration and Passport Department Major General Mohammad Ayub Chowdhury, Additional Inspector General of Police (Special Branch) Mir Shahidul Islam, Director General (Multilateral Economic Affairs) of Foreign Affairs Ministry Md Nazrul Islam and Md Tariqul Islam joined the meeting, among others.
