Wahida Khanam was seriously injured in an attack by miscreants who broke into her official residence in Ghoraghat
Doctors at the National Institute of Neurosciences and Hospital in Dhaka have said Ghoraghat Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Wahida Khanam’s condition has improved further as she is now able to take liquid food from her mouth.
Dr Mohammad Zahed Hossain, chief of the medical board formed for the treatment of the UNO, disclosed this while talking to the media on Tuesday, reports Bangla Tribune.

“UNO Wahida has been taking liquid food from her mouth while being in observation at the High Dependency Unit (HDU) of the hospital. Her senses are completely normal now and other conditions have shown signs of improvement. Only her right hand made no significant improvement, but physiotherapy is going on. Only time can tell how much improvement was achieved from the physiotherapy,” he told the media.
Replying to queries on when she might be transferred from the HDU, Dr Mohammad Zahed Hossain told Bangla Tribune: “We are looking into the possibility of shifting her to a cabin. But, she has been kept at the HDU as there are concerns about her security. A decision in this regard will be taken on Wednesday. The medical board will decide whether she will be shifted to a cabin or not.”
