Buet will not be liable if students face legal complications because of their actions on social media
Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (Buet) has asked its students to be careful about the speeches and comments they make on social media.
A notice concerning the issue, signed by Directorate of Student's Welfare (DSW) Director Prof Dr Md Mizanur Rahman, was served on Monday to create awareness among students.
The Buet authority stated in a press release that its students were facing legal complications for making defamatory statements and comments on social media as they were not aware of the ICT Act and the Digital Security Act.

The release also stated that Buet will not be liable if students face legal complications because of their actions on social media.
Earlier, on October 7, 2019, a second-year student of Electrical and Electronic Engineering of Buet, Abrar Fahad, was beaten to death by the student wing of Awami League for his Facebook status on Bangladesh-India ties.
