The land depression has weakened into a well marked low
The Met office has lifted its warning signal for all the maritime ports in Bangladesh after the land depression weakened into a well marked low.
Due to the reason, the rainfall is also likely to decrease across the country.
In its weather bulletin on Saturday afternoon, Bangladesh Meteorological Department asked the maritime ports of Chittagong, Cox's Bazar, Mongla, and Payra to lower the local cautionary signal number 3 issued on Friday.
Squally weather is unlikely over the maritime ports, north Bay and adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh, it said.
All fishing boats and trawlers over north Bay and deep sea have been advised to proceed with caution till this afternoon, the bulletin added.
On Thursday night, the authorities issued the local warning signal number 4 for the maritime ports and lowered it by one notch to number 3 the next day after the deep depression over the northwest Bay of Bengal lost its intensity and moved towards the coasts of Khulna and West Bengal of India.
Meanwhile, the land depression over Manikganj and adjoining areas has weakened into a well marked low and moved in a northeasterly direction.
The low, which lay over Gazipur region and adjoining areas at 6am Saturday, is likely to move in a north/northeasterly direction and weaken gradually, according to the bulletin.
Meteorologist Md Aftab Uddin said although the sky will remain cloudy throughout the day, the volume of rainfall will decrease in the country.
In its forecast for the next 24 hours commencing at 9am, the Met office said rain/thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at a few places over Dhaka, Mymensingh, Rangpur, Chittagong, and Sylhet divisions and at one or two places over Rajshahi, Khulna, and Barisal divisions.
In another warning, the meteorological department asked the river ports to hoist cautionary signal number 1 till 6pm on Saturday.
