A cold wave has started to blow over some parts of the northern region of the country.
This cold spell could spread to more areas. The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) fears that the temperature may drop further, reports Bangla Tribune.
On Friday, the lowest temperature in the country was recorded at 9°C in Tetulia.
Meteorologist Abdul Mannan said: “According to the weather forecast, a cold spell has started in some areas of the northern region and it will spread to the north and the west. The temperature is below 9°C now and it will drop further.
“This wave will cover several areas of the country in the next few days; temperatures across the country will dip as a result.

“A mild cold wave is sweeping over Nilphamari, Panchagarh and Kurigram. It may continue. It could also spread to the north-west of the country.”
According to the BMD, the weather may remain dry with a temporary partly cloudy sky over the country. Moderate to thick fog may occur at places over the river basins and light to moderate fog may occur elsewhere over the country from midnight to morning.
Night temperatures may fall by 2-3°C and day temperatures may dip by 1-2°C across the country.
The lowest temperature was recorded in Tetulia under Rangpur Division at 9°C. Besides, the temperature in Dimla, under the same division, also dropped below 10°C. It was 9.5°C on Friday.
Meanwhile, the lowest temperature in Dhaka was recorded at 17.1°C, Mymensingh at 11°C, Chittagong at 17.4°C, Sylhet at 14.2°C, Rajshahi at 11°C, Rangpur at 10.9°C, Khulna at 15.5°C and Barisal at 13.6°C.
