The government has taken various steps to implement the wage board for working journalists in the country, says Jessore 3 MP Kazi Nabil Ahmed.
“The press is the fourth estate … Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has given special importance to the development of journalists. During her tenure, most of the television media [media outlets] in the country were licensed.”
The lawmaker made the remarks on Saturday at a view exchange meeting with journalists while visiting the newly-build floors of the Jessore Press Club in the afternoon, reports Bangla Tribune.
Kazi Nabil Ahmed said: “Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman allocated this piece of land for the Jessore Press Club. That's why we can sit here today and talk.”
Speaking about the pandemic situation, the MP said: “Journalists have taken risks and worked even during the pandemic. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has made arrangements for vaccination against the coronavirus. Along with the health workers of the Jessore General Hospital, I will receive a vaccine shot tomorrow [Sunday] morning.”
Jessore Press Club President Zahid Hasan Tukun, and former president Ekram-ud-Daulah Faraji were present on the occasion among others.
