‘Cooperative activities between the two entities would help contribute to socio-economic development of Bangladesh’
The Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS) and the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) have signed a memorandum of understating (MoU) in a bid to enhance bilateral cooperation for providing better service in hazardous weather and amid natural hazards through the implementation of multiple projects.
BMD Director Shamsuddin Ahmed and BDRCS Secretary General Md Feroz Salah Uddin signed the document on Thursday on behalf of their respective organizations in the presence of Dr Md Abu Hena Mostofa Kamal, senior secretary of the Defence Ministry.
The MoU was signed to increase the scope of activities conducted by the BDRCS based on weather forecasts, said a press release issued by Inter Service Public Relations (ISPR) Directorate.

The signing of the MoU would help establish cooperation between the two organizations in strengthening forecasting activities and financing initiatives in Bangladesh, it added.
Consequently, cooperative activities between the two entities would help contribute to the socio-economic development of the country by reducing the loss of lives and properties during natural disasters, the media release stated.
