Incentives disbursed to farmers at an event held at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in Dhaka on Wednesday
Government has given a total cash incentive of Tk468,86,41,250 as a gift from Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to 4,65,476 farmers affected by tax in the fisheries and livestock sector.
Incentives have been delivered to the farmers through cash, Bkash and bank accounts at an event held at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in Dhaka on Wednesday, said a press release. The Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock organized the program.
Among others at the ceremony, Livestock Minister SM Rezaul Karim supervised the program while Agriculture Minister Md Abdur Razzak was present as the chief guest and Planning Minister MA Mannan as a special guest.
“Development in the agricultural sector means an overall development of the country. With the support of the government led by Sheikh Hasina in the last three years, production has increased in every agriculture sector,” Razzak said.
Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock, Dhirendra Debnath Shambhu also participated in the program virtually. Secretary of the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock Rownak Mahmud gave a welcome address on the occasion.
Besides, the district commissioners of Pirojpur, Tangail, Sunamganj, Barguna, Patuakhali and Sirajganj districts and the beneficiary farmers of the concerned districts expressed their feelings by virtually joining the program.
The incentives have been given under the two projects “Livestock and Dairy Development” of the Department of Livestock and “Sustainable Coastal and Marine Fisheries” of the Department of Fisheries, a press release said.
A total of 4,07,402 farmers (dairy, layer chicken, poultry chicken, golden chicken, broiler chicken and poultry) in the verified livestock sector from 466 upazilas of the country has been given Tk 468,86,41,250 in 15 categories at different rates.
Incentives of Tk100 crore have also been given to 78,074 farmers (fish farmers, shrimp farmers and crab / kunchia collectors)from 75 upazilas in 7 categories at different rates.
