Official website (English version) of the Attorney General's Office says Mahbubey Alam is still the highest legal officer of the country, despite using the photo of his immediate successor, Amin Uddin
It has been nearly five months since Mahbubey Alam, the longest-serving and the immediate past attorney general of Bangladesh, died at a hospital in Dhaka, after a four-week battle with Covid-19.
Senior Supreme Court lawyer and Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) President AM Amin Uddin was appointed as the new attorney general on October 8, some 12 days after Mahbubey's death.
But the official website (English version) of the Attorney General's Office says Mahbubey Alam is still the highest legal officer of the country, despite using the photo of his immediate successor, Amin Uddin.
Even the home page of the website shows Mahbubey Alam as the attorney general.
The blunder does not just stop there: the list of former attorney generals shows Mahbubey Alam as still serving at the post.
However, the Bangla version of the website, which was last updated on January 31, does not contain such a misinformation.
Dhaka Tribune has three screenshots – both taken around 6:45pm on Saturday – of the blunders.
When contacted, Md Nasir Uddin, administrative officer of the Attorney General's Office, said they did not notice the gaffe.
"We don't have an expert to monitor [such mistakes]... But I'll myself check and ask the official concerned to do the same," he said.
The mistakes would be fixed on Monday, he concluded.
