Someone opened the engine room window and stole the reversal handle (key) of Sirajganj Express
The Dhaka-bound Sirajganj Express train was stranded for four hours after someone stole the keys from the engine room at night.
Many people were late to their workplace in Dhaka by four hours as they commute directly to the city every morning.
The Director of the train Afzal Hossain said train driver Rabiul Islam saw the keys were missing when he went to run the engine around 8am. When the train was left on the bazar station platform at night, someone opened the engine room window and stole the reversal handle (key) of the train.
Golam Hossain, Bazar station master of Sirajganj, said that the express train was later taken to Jamtail with the help of another engine at around 7:45am. The keys were taken from the Banalata Express, coming from Chapainawabganj, and then the Sirajganj Express that was scheduled to leave at 6am left for Dhaka at around 9:48am.
Pakshi Divisional Railway Manager (Acting) Shaon Kabir said a four-member investigation committee has been formed by the railway authorities, headed by Assistant Transport Officer (Pakshi) Abdus Sobhan, to find what happened.
The investigation committee has already started working as they have been asked to file a report within 3 working days.
