A writ petition was filed with the High Court (HC) on Thursday seeking a directive to digitize marriage and divorce registrations to avoid fraudulence.
The human rights organization “Aid For Man Foundation” and three victims filed the writ petition.
The three others are – Rakib Hasan, the former husband of Bangladesh National Team cricketer Nasir Hossain’s wife Tamima Sultana, Sohag Hossain, and Kamrul Hasan.
There is a legal provision for registering marriages and divorces. Numerous incidents of fraudulence are occurring over marriage and divorce as the registrations are not digitized, the petition said., the petition said.
The writ was filed as no response was received after sending a notice to cricketer Nasir Hossain’s wife Tamima Sultana in this regard on February 22.
