Jagannathpur police arrested three people for assaulting young men - for sporting fashionable hairstyles - in Jagannathpur upazila of Sunamganj.

Later, when one of the victim, also an Ansar member, called 999 and lodged a complaint, police arrested the accused on Friday night.
On Saturday, Liton Das filed a case with Jagannathpur police station and police sent the detainees to jail through a court.
According to the locals and police, to attend their uncle Porimal Shobdokar’s wedding, Bhubesh Kar, Subendra Kar, Subas Kar, Nayan Kar, groom’s brother, Hridoy Kar, and neighbour Lipon Das, went to Loknath Hairdresser of Rosulganj bazar on Friday evening to have a haircut.
Siraj Miah from Moizpur village, Ful Miah from Lohargaon village, Anar Miah from Patli Chowk village, Shahin Miah from Abdullahpur village, Ataur Rahman, and Anar Miah from Patli Chowk village reportedly sarcastically made fun of their haircut and beard.
Later, they allegedly started fighting over this and the youths were beaten and forced to shave their heads and their beards by the accused.
Upon receiving the call from 999, police conducted a raid and arrested the accused Siraj Miah, Anar Miah, and Shahin Miah.
"We are disappointed in such a barbaric incident," said Bhubesh Kar, who was shocked by the incident.
He also said five out of seven people, including SSC candidates, were tortured by the accused. “They also threatened me and Subendra.”
Ansar member Lipon Das, who was tortured in the incident, said the accused were identified as bullies in the area.
“As we belong to the Hindu community, they harassed and assaulted us.”
Lipon became the plaintiff in the incident and filed a case against seven accused at Jagannathpur police station on Saturday.
Second Officer of Jagannathpur police station, Rajib Rahman, said a case has been filed in this regard. Three people have already been arrested and sent to jail.
