Police have arrested a 65-year-old man for reportedly raping a 2-year-old child, after luring her with a piece of chocolate in Chandpur’s Faridganj.
The arrestee is Siddique Bepari of the upazila. The incident took place at Jamalpur village in Rupsa area of the upazila.
According to police and local sources, on Friday around 12pm, Bepari tempted the child with a chocolate, and then took her to his house and reportedly raped her.
Hearing the child’s cries, the mother rushed to rescue the child.
A case has been filed against Bepari under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act on Saturday with Faridganj police.
Faridganj police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Shahid Hossain said: "We have arrested the rapist, Siddique Bepari, on charges of rape.”
When he was produced before a magistrate, the court sent him to jail.
