3 arrested in Savar for snatching accused from police custody

Three young men were arrested in Savar for attacking police and snatching an accused person in a murder case from police custody. Two police officers were hurt in the attack.

The arrested trio have been identified as Jawad, 24, Anik, 25, and Swadhin, 24.

The snatched convict was Rokibul Islam Roky, an accused person in the murder case of college student Rohan in Savar.  

Savar Model Thana’s Officer-in-charge AFM Sayed confirmed the incident, including Roky’s arrest, which happened late on Saturday night at Savar municipality’s Bank Colony area.

Tipped off about Rokibul being spotted with his gang in the Bank Colony area, police conducted a drive and arrested him. But later his compatriots attacked the police and freed him from custody, said police.

Savar Model Thana’s Additional Sub-Inspector Tahmidul Islam said three of the attackers were arrested and sent to court after lodging a case in this connection.
