Mild heatwave sweeping over country likely to continue

Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has said a mild heatwave is sweeping over different regions of the country and predicted it is likely to continue.

The Met office on Monday said regions of Dhaka, Tangail, Faridpur, Gopalganj, Rajshahi, Pabna, Khulna, Jessore, Kushtia, Patuakhali, Sitakunda, and Rangamati are experiencing the mild heatwave.

Weather may remain dry with partly cloudy sky over the country, the BMD said in a forecast for the next 24 hours commencing at 9am.

Day temperatures may remain nearly unchanged and night temperatures may rise slightly over the country, it said.

Trough of low lies over the West Bengal and adjoining area while seasonal low lies over the South bay.

The country's maximum temperature on Sunday was recorded 37.4°C in Jessore and the lowest one on Monday was recorded 17.4°C at Rajarhat.

The sun will set at 6:11pm on Monday and will rise at 5:59am on Tuesday in Dhaka.
