Publishers are targeting the Independence Day to boost up their sales

Amar Ekushey Book Fair-2021 has drawn the attraction of hundreds of visitors since its inauguration on March 18 amid the risk of Covid-19 transmission, but book buyers poured into the fair as expected.

Publishers are getting enthusiastic hoping that the sales may increase on Independence Day.

"We are hopeful of getting a huge response from the readers centring the Independence Day. Compared to last year's situation, we saw a down-trend of sales in the first week of the fair,” said Mazharul Islam, publisher of Anya Prokash.

He said: "Although we have launched more new books than that of the first week of the last year, many publications introduced a low number of books in the first week of this year."

The fair will get momentum from today (Friday), several other publishers hopped.

As many as 785 new books appeared in Ekushey Book Fair till to date since March 19. Some 117 books were newly introduced yesterday.
