Veteran journalist Khondkar Shahadat Hossain passes away

He will be buried at Mirpur Martyred Intellectuals' Graveyard on Sunday afternoon

Veteran journalist Khondkar Shahadat Hossain has passed away at a hospital in Dhaka, at the age of 75.

Shahadat, who had been suffering from old-age complications, breathed his last at 5:30am on Sunday, said a press release.

The senior journalist left behind two daughters and a host of relatives and well-wishers to mourn his death.

A permanent member of the National Press Club, Shahadat was the editor of entertainment newspaper Purbani during the 1970s and 1980s. 

He was the general manager of Daily Ittefaq and the founding president of Bachsas (Bangladesh Cholochitra Sangbadik Samity), an organization of film journalists.

He was one of the founders of the Blind Welfare Association.

Shahadat will be buried at Mirpur Martyred Intellectuals' Graveyard in the afternoon.

National Press Club President Farida Yasmin and General Secretary Ilias Khan expressed deep grief and sorrow at the demise of the senior journalist.

They conveyed the deepest condolences to the bereaved family members.
