She had passed HSC with Golden A+ from Ideal College earlier this year
A student in south Mugda in Dhaka allegedly commited suicide by jumping off a rooftop after failuring to pass the admission test to a medical college. The deceased was identified as Tanima Rahman Niha, 20. The incident took place around 7:30pm on Tuesday.
The father of the deceased Md Mizanur Rahman said Tanima from her childhood had always dreamed of becoming a doctor. She had been very depressed for the past two or three days after being unable to pass the medical college admission test. On Tuesday evening, she went to the rooftop on the seventh floor of the building, and she either fell off by accident or jumped on purpose. She was rescued in critical condition and taken to the emergency unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) at 9pm where the doctor pronounced her dead.
DMCH police outpost Inspector Bacchu Mia said the body is in the morgue for autopsy.
She was the eldest among two siblings, and had passed HSC with Golden A+ from Ideal College this year.
