Will resume their car services in accordance with government directives
Ride-sharing app Uber on Wednesday confirmed to the media that have resumed their automobile-based ride sharing service.
The popular ride-sharing brand also mentioned that the service was being resumed in accordance with government and BRTA guidelines.
However, they did not reveal whether they would resume their motorcycle-based services or not.
On Tuesday, the Road Transport and Highways Department issued an emergency notification, saying that public transport was to be allowed to operate conditionally in all city corporation areas from 6:00am to 6:00pm from Wednesday.
Earlier, motorcyclists staged protests in different parts of the capital on Monday, demanding resuming of ride-sharing after restrictions were imposed on public transport to control the rapidly-rising Covid-19 situation.
Roadblocks were also reported in the capital's Moghbazar, Bailey Road, Shyamoli, Airport, and Tejgaon area briefly and sporadically on the day.
