Another case has been filed over the violence, vandalism, and theft following the confinement of Hefazat-e-Islam leader Mamunul Haque with a woman at a resort in Narayanganj.

So far, a total seven cases have been filed over the April 3 riots. Mamunul has been named among the accused in three of them.

A local named Johra Begum filed the case against 100 named accused with Sonargaon police station on Saturday, confirmed Officer-in-Charge (OC) Hafizur Rahman on Sunday.

Johra is a tenant of Sonargaon upazila unit Awami Jubo League President Rafiqul Islam Nannu, who on Friday filed one of the other cases against Mamunul and 180 others.

Following the fresh case, police from Saturday to Sunday conducted multiple drives in different areas of Sonargaon and Rupganj upazilas and arrested 10 Hefazat leaders and activists, including Mufti Lokman Hossain Amini.

“All of them have been sent to jail,” OC Hafizur added.

Later on, stick-wielding Hefazat supporters attacked and vandalized the resort before snatching Mamunul away from the police.
