He tested positive for Covid-19 on April 7
Abul Khair Md Maruf Hasan, deputy secretary at the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief, has passed away.
He breathed his last on Thursday at the age of 48.
The government official was put on life support at Rajarbagh Central Police Hospital soon after testing positive for Covid-19 on April 7.
AKM Maruf Hasan also worked as a project director at the National Resilience Programme (NRP), a partnership between the Bangladesh government, the UNDP, UN Women and the UNOPS.
In a condolence message, the NRP said the deputy secretary’s passing was a great loss for the country as well as the NRP.
“We, the NRP family, are deeply saddened at his demise and pray for his eternal peace. Our deepest sympathies are with his family.”
