Heritage sites from Bogra, Sylhet, Naogaon, Dinajpur, Comilla and Dhaka were covered during the campaign
The SDG 360 has held an online campaign to promote different heritage sites across Bangladesh in bid to implement the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set by the UN.
The 10-day campaign, titled ‘Antique Tales’ emphasised on the SDG 11.4 - to “protect and safeguard the world’s cultural and natural heritage.”
Volunteers involved in the program visited several different heritage sites, including Mahasthangarh in Bogra, Ratargul Swamp Forest in Sylhet, Halud Vihara in Naogaon, Kantajir Mandir in Dinajpur, Mainamati in Comilla, Panam City in Dhaka, Lalbagh fort in Dhaka, Buddhist Vihar in Paharpur, and Ahsan Manzil in Dhaka.
They analyzed the overall situation of each site and submitted reports on their assessments, available on the SDG 360 website.
By promoting Bangladesh’s natural and cultural heritage sites, the campaign aims to bring them into the spotlight, which in turn attracts more tourists, preserves the sites with economical benefits, and finds ways to help the surrounding locality and their livelihoods.
Efforts have been already taken to help the localities and bring more effective solutions to develop heritage sites in the country.
