There will be no crisis of food grains, says the food minister
Food Minister Sadhan Chandra Majumder has directed the deputy commissioners to take action against paddy hoarders and intensify the activities of the market monitoring committees.
Addressing a virtual meeting with the leaders of rice mill owners from his official residence in city on Thursday, the minister said the country has enough crops and there will be no crisis of food grains.
He also asked the rice mill owners to provide rice with minimum profit.
The minister directed the Food Department to prepare a list of rice mill owners, who failed to supply rice as per the agreement.
With Food Secretary Mosammat Nazmanara Khanum in the chair, the meeting was addressed, among others, by Director General of Department of Agricultural Marketing Mohammed Yousuf and Director General of Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection Bablu Kumar Saha.
