Footstep Bangladesh, a renowned next generation organization, launched a campaign on June 3 to raise funds in order to deploy 100 oxygen cylinders to address Covid-19 crisis in southwestern and northern bordering districts of Bangladesh.
In the fundraising effort, companies including Robi, BURO Bangladesh, United Group, Lalteer Seeds Ltd, as well as hundreds of donors have joined in to ensure the campaign will be able to reach its target, said a press release issued yesterday.
The campaign has raised funds for about 114 oxygen cylinders in 2 weeks of operation time.
Forty-five oxygen cylinders have been deployed to cover all upazilas in Satkhira, whereas another 40 cylinders and 1 oxygen concentrator have been deployed in the Northern districts of Dinajpur, Nilphamari, Kurigram and Thakurgaon.
At least 29 more oxygen cylinders will be deployed between Jessore and Kushtia in the upcoming days, it said.
Footsteps is working with local partners including Uttaran, Its Humanity Foundation and its own local teams to provide critical oxygen support for Covid-19 patients in the mentioned districts.
