Rainfall activity may increase further from from Friday to Sunday
A fresh low pressure area has formed on Thursday over Northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining area, according to the evening bulletin of Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).
It pointed out that rainfall activity may increase further from Friday to Sunday as the monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh and moderate over North Bay.
Light to moderate rain/thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at many places over Chittagong and Sylhet divisions and at a few places over Rajshahi, Rangpur, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna and Barisal divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at places over the country.
The axis of monsoon trough runs through Rajsthan, Horiyana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal to Assam across southern part of Bangladesh. One of its associated troughs extends up to North Bay, it said.
Day temperature may remain nearly unchanged and night temperature may fall slightly over the country.
Meanwhile, Dhaka recorded 20 millimetres (mm) of rainfall in the past 24-hour period till 6 pm but Rajshahi saw the highest 35.5 rainfall.
Mymensingh, Khulna, Barisal and Chittagong divisions also witnessed light to heavy rainfall since the morning, the Met office said.
