A Dhaka court on Friday sent five people to jail over the snatching of a mobile phone of Planning Minister MA Mannan.
The accused are Md Sagir, Md Sumon, Md Jakir, Md Hamid Ahmed, and Sohel alias Arif.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Satyabrata Shikder passed the order as police produced the accused before the court after the end of their remand.

Defence counsels, however, argued for their bail, which was opposed by the prosecution. After hearing both sides, the court sent the five to jail.
The accused were placed on three-day remand each in the case on Monday.

Police found the minister's phone, snatched on the evening of May 30 at a traffic stop in Dhaka’s Bijoy Sarani, while probing another case of mobile phone snatching, and arrested the five from different parts of the capital.
Police also recovered a motorcycle, 12 mobile phones, a laptop, and different parts of mobile phones from their possessions.
