Thousands of people, mostly readymade garment factory workers, started rushing back to Dhaka and adjacent districts, where the factories are, defying all Covid-19 health safety rules from Saturday morning.
Their travel through any mode of transportation possible, either roads or waterways, kicked off after the authorities on Friday decided to allow factories to reopen from Sunday amid the ongoing strict Covid-19 lockdown.
Thousands of workers from different districts around the country were seen travelling to their respective workplaces, mainly located in Dhaka, Gazipur and Narayanganj.
Due to the suspension of public transport, most were seen travelling by pickups, trucks, battery-run rickshaws, and rickshaw-vans. Some were seen making their way on foot, while others were waiting for vehicles at different bus stops and ferry terminals.
