The health authorities in Tangail have recommended departmental action against Sajeda Afrin, an assistant health inspector of Delduar Upazila Health Complex, for blunders during the vaccination campaign.

Civil Surgeon Dr Abul Fazl Md Sahabuddin Khan sent a letter along with the investigation report to the director of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Monday asking it to take departmental action against the official.

According to sources, Sajeda Afrin was vaccinating at booth No 2 of the Upazila Health Complex around 11:30 am on Sunday. Some of the receivers noticed that even though she had pushed the needles, she did not inject the vaccine.

On information, Resident Medical Officer (RMO) Md Shamim examined the discarded syringes, and found about 20 syringes with vaccines inside them.

Asked about the allegation, vaccinator Sajeda Afrin said: "There was a lot of rush from people on that day. The incident happened unintentionally. “

The three-member investigation committee formed the same day submitted its report on Monday.

The civil surgeon said: “The vaccinator has admitted her faults to the investigators. A letter has been sent to the authorities seeking departmental action against her.”
