Dengue patients double in August

According to the DGHS, 36 people have died of dengue so far this year

A total of 5,383 people have already been diagnosed with dengue in August, which is more than double the number of dengue patients recorded in the previous seven months. 

The Directorate General of Health Services disclosed the information on Sunday. 

According to DGHS data for the current year, 32 people were identified with dengue in January, nine in February, 13 in March, three in April, 43 in May, 272 in June, and 2,286 in July, amounting to a total of 2,658. 

From August 1-22, a total of 5,383 dengue patients have been identified.

According to the DGHS, 36 people have died of dengue this year,  so far. Among them, 12 died in July and 24 this month.

A total 291 people have been admitted to hospitals for dengue in the last 24 hours. Among them, 259 were admitted to hospitals in Dhaka and 32 were admitted to hospitals outside the capital.

As many as 1,218 dengue patients are currently undergoing treatment at various government and private hospitals in the country, including 1,131 patients at 41 government and private hospitals of Dhaka division, and 87 patients at hospitals in other divisions of the country.

So far this year, a total of 8,041 patients have been hospitalized with dengue, including 6,787 people who have returned home after treatment.
