The United States has always been a top destination for Bangladeshi students, but choosing the right program and applying to different schools could be a challenge for many.

To help face these challenges EducationUSA is providing many services to Bangladeshi students aspiring to study in the US.

In a press release, EducationUSA shared the experience of two Bangladeshi students studying in US universities, who talked about how the organization helped them navigate the admission and application process.

Mahmudul Hasan is currently pursuing a doctoral degree in the Chemical Engineering Department of Penn State University (PSU) and working as a full-time Graduate Research Assistant as well.

He first learned about EducationUSA Bangladesh from a senior student studying at the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (Buet).

“EducationUSA provided complete guidelines for navigating standardized testing requirements, such as the GRE and TOEFL, in addition to providing tips on how to write a strong Statement of Purpose,” he said.

He thinks the unique benefits of studying in the US are that there are lots of funding and research opportunities available for international students, such as the Optional Practical Training (OPT) — a temporary employment opportunity for international students there on the F-1 visa.

“There are lots of ups and downs on this path of academic growth and development. Sometimes your PhD advisor's expectations can be very high and it may seem you do not know which direction your studies and research will go,” he said.

Another student, Polash Kumer Roy, is currently pursuing a PhD in Applied Mathematics and Physics at Wichita State University, reads the press release.

He said: “EducationUSA advised how to find the right university as well as provided tips on successfully completing my degree in America by inviting US speakers and current Bangladeshi students to provide their insights on adjusting to US academic culture and life as an international student.”

“EducationUSA has a great 5-step model which helps you navigate the US higher education admissions process. I participated in sessions discussing each step where they advised me on how to identify the right institutions to apply to, financial assistance opportunities, and successfully submit my visa application,” he said.

He also emphasized the fact that EducationUSA offers free one-on-one and group advising services which tailor to people’s needs as prospective students.

Prospective applicants will get a chance to attend an upcoming education fair to learn more about the process.

EducationUSA Bangladesh will collaborate with EducationUSA centres across three other South Asian countries - India, Nepal and Pakistan - to host over 100 accredited US colleges and universities each for two sessions of the annual Fall fair on August 27 and September 3.

The fair will be fully virtual and divided into two sessions for the graduate and undergraduate audience segments.

The fair can be accessed from the official Facebook page of EducationUSA Bangladesh.
