Covid vaccine: 26 million shots completed

A total of 6.6 million jabs of Covid vaccine are in hand, says DGHS

The government has administered a total of 25,710,490 jabs of Covid-19 vaccines out of 32,360,080 doses received by Bangladesh so far, according to the health authorities.

Of the dispensed jabs, 18,070,967 people have received their first jab and 7,639,793 got their second jab as of Sunday, said the  Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) in a press release on Sunday, reports Bangla Tribune.

At the moment, 6,649,590 doses of Covid vaccines are stored in the country.

Bangladesh is currently administering four vaccines – AstraZeneca, Pfizer, Moderna, and Sinopharm – for its inoculation campaign.

So far, 37,322,582 people have signed up to get immunized against Covid to date, according to the DGHS.

As many as 11,131,941 jabs of the AstraZeneca vaccine have been administered in the country so far. On Sunday, 907 people received their first jab of the AstraZeneca vaccine and 9,012 got their second dose.

Besides, 177 people received their first Pzifer jab while 133 got their second on Sunday, taking the total to 95,711.

On the other hand, a total of 11,351,088 Sinopharm vaccines have been administered in the country till date. On Sunday alone, 218,440 and 135,549 people received their first and second jab of the China-made vaccine respectively.

The total number stands at 3,131,750 for the Moderna vaccine. Of them, 23,141 received their first jab and 64,882 their second on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh’s daily coronavirus deaths dropped below the 90-mark after 89 fatalities were reported on Sunday, taking the death toll to 26,015.

The caseload jumped by 3,948 in the 24 hours, taking the total number of infections to 1,493,537 in the country.
