The Bangabandhu Diploma Engineers Council (BDEC) organized a discussion on Thursday on the occasion of National Mourning Day on August 15.
Science and Technology Minister Architect Yafes Osman presided over the event held at Pani Bhaban at Green Road, Dhaka, a BDEC statement said this on Friday.
The minister prayed for the eternal rest of the departed souls of those killed on August 15, 1975, terming the day a scandalous chapter of the history of the Bengali nation.
"Bangabandhu Diploma Engineers Council was by the side of the Awami League in its struggling days in the past," he said.
An unauthorized group has occupied the IDEB in the name of the Bangabandhu Diploma Engineers Council (BDEC), the minister added.
General Secretary of Bangabandhu Parishad and one of the advisors of Bangladesh Awami League Dr SA Malek was present during the discussion as one of the special guests.
In his speech, Dr Malek said: “Despite issuing a letter to stop all the unauthorized activities in the name of BDEC early on, a group under the supervision of IDEB is operating illegal activities, which is unethical.”
He urged the organization to stop its activities.
Senior Secretary and President of Bangladesh Administrative Service Association Kabir Bin Anwar PAA, and lawmakers Enamul Haque and Asim Kumar Ukil were also present at the ceremony as guests.
