Ailing senior Awami League leader Tofail Ahmed, undergoing treatment at a Delhi hospital, has been shifted to a cabin from its ICU as his condition improved.
Shaban Mahmood, press minister at the Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi, told UNB on Saturday that the veteran politician is undergoing treatment at Medanta Hospital in Gurgaon, New Delhi under Dr Arun Garg, Dr Arun Garg, head of the neurology department at Medanta Multi Super Specialty Hospital, and he is doing well.
"Tofail has been shifted to a cabin and doctors hope that he'll get well soon," he added.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh High Commissioner in New Delhi Muhammad Imran visited Tofail Ahmed, at the hospital on Friday. He inquired about his health treatment procedures.
The Senior Awami League leader and the former minister had been undergoing treatment at Square Hospital in Dhaka after suffering a mild stroke last Monday.
He was flown to New Delhi on Friday afternoon by an air ambulance, according to his personal aide Abul Khayer.
The 77-year-old politician was elected lawmaker five times and served as minister in several ministries under the Awami League government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
