Each one of them is accused of planning subversive activities
A Dhaka court on Sunday placed five leaders of Jamaat-e-Islami, including its Secretary General Mia Golam Parwar, on two-day remand each afresh in a case lodged under the Anti-Terrorism Act.
The other remanded accused are Assistant Secretary General Rafiqul Islam Khan, central executive council members Ijjat Ullah and Mobarak Hossain, and former president of Islami Chhatra Shibir Yeasin Arafat.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Masudur Rahman passed the order as police produced the five before the court and pleaded to place them each on a 10-day remand again in the case lodged with the capital's Bhatara police station.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Begum Mahmuda Akter on September 7 had placed nine leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami, including Mia Golam Parwar, on four-day remand each in the same case.
Police on September 6 arrested them from a flat in Block-D of Bashundhara residential area.
Deputy Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police's (DMPs) Gulshan zone Md Asaduzzaman later said the accused had gathered in the flat to plan subversive activities.
