The accidents were reported from Dinajpur, Gopalganj and Bogra
Road accidents have left three people, including members of the Bangladesh Army and Bangladesh Police, killed in Dinajpur, Gopalganj and Bogra.
The incidents, involving highway buses, were reported late on Saturday, say police.
In Dinajpur, a customs department official was killed when a bus ran over him at Fulbari upazila’s Dhaka Mor, on Saturday night.
The victim, Shahadat Hossain, was based at the Hili land port as a customs inspector. He was returning home to Thakurgaon, when the bus hit him around 9pm.
The bus was seized but the driver and his assistant managed to flee, said Fulbari police station OC Ashraful Alam.
In Gopalganj, a police constable was killed on the Dhaka-Khulna Highway at the Muksudpur upazila, when hit by a car on Saturday night.
The deceased, Asadur Rahman, 21, was stationed at the Gopalganj Police Lines. He was a resident of Rajbari district.
Muksudpur police station OC Md Abu Bakar Mia said a car hit Asadur around 8.30pm near the Old Muksudpur area.
In Bogra, a member of the Bangladesh Army died while his son was injured when a bus hit them at the district’s Shahjahanpur upazila on Saturday night.
The victim has been identified as 33-year-old Shamim Hossain. His 7-year-old son was with him.
Quoting witnesses, police said that a Chittagong-bound bus operated by Chandni Travels hit them when the father and son were crossing the highway near the military police checkpost at Majhira around 8pm.
They were rushed to the Combined Military Hospital in Bogra, where Hossain succumbed to his injuries around 10pm. He was a Sainik (soldier) based at the Majhira Cantonment in Bogra.
Soon after the accident, the army seized the bus before turning over the driver and his assistant to the police, said Inspector Nannu Khan of the Shahjahanpur police.
