310 students could not sit for Bar Council enrollment examinations
The High Court has fined City University authorities Tk62 lakh for enrolling more than 50 students at the law department defying rules.
Due to the irregularities, some 310 students from six batches of the department could not sit for the Bar Council enrollment examinations.
Later they filed a writ petition seeking remedies.
The bench of Justice Farah Mahbub and Justice SM Moniruzzaman gave the order on Sunday after a hearing.
The court asked the university authorities to deposit Tk62.5 lakh to the Bangladesh Bar Council account with the next 60 days. It also directed the Bar Council to issue 310 registration cards after the amount is paid.
