Russian House in Dhaka director lauds Bangladeshi journalists’ dedication in fulfilling their professional responsibilities
Russian House in Dhaka on Thursday arranged a press conference to mark the International Day of Journalists' Solidarity.
The event is organized annually all around the world in remembrance of and tribute to the anti-fascist Czechoslovak journalist and writer Julius Fučík, who was executed by the Nazis on September 8, 1943 in Germany.
Maxim Dobrokhotov, director of Russian House in Dhaka, was present at the press conference.
Highlighting the role of the media in public life, he appreciated Bangladeshi journalists’ dedication in fulfilling their professional responsibilities.
Besides print media, online media platforms were also playing a significant role in this sector, he added.
Dobrokhotov also discussed the opportunities and prospects for higher education in Russia for Bangladeshi students.
Talking about scholarship opportunities for Bangladeshi students, he said: “We try to increase the number of scholarships every year. Five years ago the number was 25 and now it is 65.”
Russian House in Dhaka has been providing assistance to Bangladeshis interested in pursuing higher education in Russia and the Russian language since its inception in 1972.
It regularly organizes a range of events, including webinars, exhibitions, film shows and musical programs, to contribute in the area of literature, culture and education.
