The Detective Branch (DB) under Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has arrested three people on charges of marketing fake medicines and cosmetics at Chawkbazar.
The arrestees are identified as Md Altaf Hossain, Md Sohel Hawlader and Md Salman. The three were arrested while marketing medicines and cosmetics manufactured by fake factories using the labels of local and foreign brands.
Md Fazlur Rahman, assistant commissioner of police under Lalbagh DB, led the operation and arrested them with fake medicines on Friday.
Fazlur Rahman said: "We received information that fake medicines and cosmetics are being manufactured in the Chawkbazar area and are marketed to remote areas of the country."

Based on the information, Altaf, Sohel and Salman were arrested at 3:50pm on Thursday from a house at Devidas Lane under Chawkbazar police station.
The seized fake cosmetics include 15 cartoons of Johnson's baby lotion, six cartoons of Luchy Oliva Olive oil, eight cartoons emami seven Oils in Non-Stick Hair Oil, four cartoons Clean & Clear foaming face wash, four cartoons Dabur Vatika Enriched, 18 bottles of Dabur Amla Hair oil, 100 bottles of Johnsons milk + rice bath, 36 bottles of Johnsons baby shampoo, 24 Zafran Hair Growth Therapy (Amazing Hair Regain Spray) and others.
Two separate cases were filed with the Chawkbazar police station in this regard.
