Hasan Morshed Ali is currently undergoing treatment at Dhaka’s Lab Aid Hospital
A professor of Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU), lost his right hand as a truck collided with a moving bus in Mymensingh on Thursday. Four other people were also injured.
The incident took place at 8pm at Bashati in Phulpur upazila of the district.
Hasan Morshed Ali is currently undergoing treatment at Dhaka’s Lab Aid Hospital. He is an assistant professor at BAU's Faculty of Animal Husbandry.
Officer-in-Charge Abdullah Al Mamun of Phulpur police station confirmed the matter.
“Hasan was on his way to Sherpur in a bus and inadvertently kept his right hand out the window. When the bus reached Banshati area on Mymensingh-Sherpur road, a speeding truck from the opposite direction hit the bus while crossing, severing Hasan's right hand in the process,” said the OC.

As soon as the bus reached Nakla Upazila Health Complex, the driver fled.
Initially, the passengers took Hasan to Nakla Upazila Health Complex for first-aid.
From there, Hasan was rushed to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital (MMCH). Informed, police immediately recovered the severed hand from the spot and took it to MMCH.
Later that night, he was transferred to the Lab Aid Hospital in Dhaka.
Hasan underwent surgery later that night, his condition is stable but his severed hand is yet to be reattached, said BAU Prof Md Mohir Uddin.
