BNP's dream of waging a movement for a neutral polls-time govt will soon turn into a nightmare, says the senior Awami League leader
Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader on Saturday said BNP is taking part in the Union Parishad (UP) elections using the identity of independent candidates.
"If you have the courage, take part in the polls visibly with the party symbol after leaving the veil of independent identity," he asked BNP while speaking at a regular press briefing at his official residence.
Quader said the people are happy with the development and achievements of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's government and that is why the masses will not respond to the BNP's call for movement.

BNP's daydreaming of waging movement on a single-point demand for the neutral polls-time government will also turn into a nightmare very soon, he said.
Pointing to BNP, he said there is no scope to go beyond the constitution for the next general elections. So, there will be no benefit in creating unnecessary chaos over the matter, he said.
About BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir's remarks over the Abrar murder case, the Awami League general secretary said, "Can Mirza Fakhrul give a single instance of bringing their own party men to justice for their wrongdoings during their government tenure?"
Referring to trials in different cases, the minister said Sheikh Hasina's government carried out the trials for Bishwajit murder and Barguna's Rifat killing.

No one was spared because of party identity, Quader said, adding that the university administration took steps over Abrar murder while organizational steps were also taken.
The trial is now underway in the murder case, he said, adding that Sheikh Hasina's government considers offenders as only offenders.
He said most of those accused in the Abrar murder case are of Chhatra League but none of them escaped.
So, offenders whoever they are, must be brought to justice, he said.
He also aid party identity cannot be a shield of anyone's self-protection, Sheikh Hasina's government has proven it again and again.
