The government will strictly supervise and monitor fertilizer distribution, says Dr M Abdur Razzaque
Agriculture Minister Dr M Abdur Razzaque on Thursday said there is no shortage of fertilizer in the country.
“We have enough preparations till next Boro season, there will be no problem regarding fertilizer,” he said, joining an online national coordination and consultation committee meeting on fertilizer from his ministry conference room.
He said strict supervision and monitoring will be imposed by the government on the fertilizer distribution system to avoid any crisis.
Dr Razzaque, however, told the meeting that the agriculture and the industries ministries will continuously work jointly so that farmers can buy fertilizer at fair prices according to their needs.

Chaired by the minister, who is also a convenor of the committee, the virtual meeting also was attended, among others, by Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun, State Minister for Industries Kamal Ahmed Mojumder, Chairperson of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Agriculture Ministry Matia Chowdhury, Agriculture Ministry Senior Secretary M Meshbahul Islam, Industries Secretary Zakia Sultana and other committee members.
The country’s overall demand of chemical fertilizer for the 2021-22 fiscal year was ascertained at nearly 6.7 million tons.
