The Chittagong Metropolitan Police has launched ‘Oxygen Bank’ for emergency distribution of oxygen cylinders free of cost
Police in Chittagong came to a woman’s aid during an emergency on Wednesday, delivering oxygen to her aid late at night.
The incident happened in Mogaltuli area of Chittagong.
Shikha Barua, a 68-year-old school teacher, suddenly fell sick with respiratory problems on Wednesday night.
The oxygen tank at her house was empty. As it was late at night, her family was unable to arrange for another oxygen cylinder.
Desperate, they called Double Mooring police station at around 3am and told them Shikha was having breathing difficulties.
“Upon receiving the news, we quickly delivered an oxygen cylinder to her house,” Double Mooring police station OC Mohammad Mohsin said.
According to sources, the Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) has launched “Oxygen Bank” in 16 police stations in the city.
Anyone suffering from breathing problems can ask the police stations for oxygen, and they will deliver it to their doorsteps free of charge.
People can also get the oxygen cylinders refilled by contacting the concerned police stations.
