Cyclone Fani: Biman cancels domestic flight

The national carrier has also delayed a Dhaka-Kolkata flight

Biman Bangladesh Airlines has cancelled its scheduled flight on Dhaka-Jessore-Dhaka route on Friday due to adverse weather, as tropical cyclonic storm Fani makes way towards Bangladesh. 

Biman General Manager (Public Relations) Shakil Meraj issued a statement in this regard on Friday afternoon. 

The national carrier has also delayed its Dhaka-Kolkata flight, BG095, scheduled on Friday, till 8:30am on Saturday for the same reason, the statement said. 

Fani made landfall in southeast India on Friday afternoon, at the holy city of Puri in the coastal state of Odisha, claiming two lives so far. 

The cyclone, categorized as “very severe” in Bangladesh, is likely to strike Bangladesh through Khulna and adjacent areas around midnight, Shamsuddin Ahmed, director of Bangladesh Meteorological Department, said on Friday afternoon.
