Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid has called a press briefing on Wednesday to elaborate his remarks on bribery which have drawn a huge public outcry after being published in the mass media.
The press briefing will take place at the Education Ministry auditorium at 1pm on Wednesday, according to a ministry-issued press release.

Earlier on December 24, Nurul Islam Nahid told the officials of the Directorate of Inspection and Audit (DIA) to limit their practice of receiving bribery while speaking as the chief guest at a laptop and certificate distribution ceremony in the capital.
"I don’t have the guts to ask you not to take bribes, it would be meaningless.”
“It is not only the officials who are thieves, but also the ministers. I am a thief too. This is the way of the world. But it has to be changed,” Nahid said during the speech.

The ministry on Monday issued a press release claiming that some news media had misinterpreted Nahid’s remarks.
Meanwhile, BNP’s Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi accused the education minister of telling the students that it is okay to be involved in corruption.
