ACC launches probe against casino owners

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has launched investigation against those who amassed huge wealth through illegal casino business.

The probe was launched after the decision was made at an urgent meeting held at the ACC headquarters in Dhaka yon Monday, said its Public Relations Officer Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya.

ACC Director Syed Iqbal Hossain was given the charge of inquiry and its Director General (Special Investigation) Sayeed Mahbub Khan was made the investigation officer.

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) launched an anti-casino drive on September 18.

Law enforcement agencies have so far arrested 270 people during 35 raids across the country.

RAB also raided an apartment building in Gulshan 2 late last night, based on information gleaned from Salim Prodhan, an alleged owner of an online casino named P24 gaming B2B Live Casino solutions.

Salim, who lives in that building, was detained from a Bangkok-bound Thai Airways flight at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport earlier in the day, said RAB’s Legal and Media Wing Director Sarwar Bin Kashem.
