Dinajpur court has issued arrest warrants against seven former Barapukuria coal mine managing directors and 16 others in a case filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) for stealing coal from the mine.

Public Prosecutor Advocate M Aminur Rahmna confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune.
The court ordered police to arrest the accused produced them before it on the day it fixed.
The list includes Barapukuria Coal Mine ex-MDs Md Mahbubur Rahman, Md Abdul Aziz Khan, Khurshid Alam, Kamruzzaman, Md Anisuzzaman, SM Nurun Auranzeb, Habib Uddin Ahmed, and 16 others.
From January 2006 till July 19, 2018, 143,727.92 tons of coals were stolen from the mine. The estimated value of which is around Tk243 crore.
Dinajpur Court Police Inspector Abdul Majid said: “After the case was filed against the 23, none of them appealed for bail.”
The massive irregularity came to light when a team from Bangladesh Power Development Board (PDB) visited the coal mine and found that there was no adequate reserve of coal to run the Barapukuria thermal power plant.
Petrobangla formed a three-member committee to investigate the disappearance. The Anti-Corruption Commission also formed a three-member probe committee to look into the matter.
