The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has questioned one of the owners of Hanif Paribahan, Kafil Uddin, on charges of illegal acquisition of assets.
A team led by ACC Deputy Director Abu Bakar Siddique interrogated him from 10am to 1pm on Monday.
ACC Director (media) Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune.
Pranab said the commission had summoned the owners of Hanif Enterprise, Hanif Miah, his wife Eva Hanif, and his brother Kafil, for questioning. Among them, only Kafil Uddin appeared at the ACC headquarters.
However Kafil failed to submit their wealth information documents and sought more time for submission of documents, which the ACC duly extended, said the ACC spokesperson.
After the interrogation, Kafil Uddin told the media that he was called in by the ACC for questioning.
Kafil Uddin is the younger brother of Hanif Miah, who was sentenced to death in the 21 August grenade murder case.
On Monday, the national anti graft watchdog summoned the three owners of the Hanif Enterprise on charges of amassing illegal wealth.
On March 18, the ACC had asked the trio to appear and submit their wealth information. But the commission did not get a response from them.
