The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed separate cases against deputy assistant director of the Department of Immigration and Passport (DIP) Motaleb Hossain, and his wife Ishrat Jahan on charges of amassing illegal wealth worth nearly Tk3.5 crore.
ACC Deputy Abubakar Siddique on Wednesday filed the case with its integrated district office in Dhaka-1 under the Anti-Corruption Commission Act-2004, said the anti-graft watchdog’s deputy director, Muhammad Arif Sadeq.
According to the case dockets, Motaleb Hossain concealed Tk10,79,378 out of Tk74,26,549 in his wealth statement submitted to the commission.
Also, the ACC found Tk41,23,389 was beyond his known source of income.
Ishrat Jahan illegally amassed Tk3.1 crore--but she hid the information about Tk99,98,256 in her wealth statement, according to the case filed against her.
