HC stays suspension of Rajshahi, Habiganj mayors

The High Court on Tuesday stayed the suspension of Rajshahi City Corporation Mayor Mosaddek Hossain Bulbul and Habiganj Municipality Mayor GK Gaus. The bench of Justice Syed Muhammad Dastagir Husain and Justice Md Ataur Rahman Khan passed the order responding to the writ petitions filed by the mayors. Earlier in the morning, they filed separate petitions challenging the legality of their suspension orders. The mayors of Rajshahi City Corporation and Habiganj Municipality were suspended on Sunday. The LGRD Ministry suspended Rajshahi Mayor Bulbul when he was charged in four cases during anti-government movements in 2015. Gaus is listed with Sylhet City Corporation Mayor Ariful in the Kibria murder case and the attempted murder of Suranjit. Responding to a writ petition filed by Ariful, the High Court on Monday stayed the suspension of the mayor.
